Cursed Chinese Lessons
I am forced, by my parents to take Chinese lessons. There is nothing all that wrong with that (except maybe I don't like the language). But the lessons spent with my brother really peeve me. I fail my reading everytime. But my brother passes. And this happens no matter how fluently I read. In fact, my reading and my brother's is comparable... he mispronounces many of the words and just reads them anyway, ignoring all errors. I might stop from time to time to repeat a word to make sure my pronunciation is right, but isn't it better than rushing through the whole thing with all the wrong intonations? Apparently not! And then they (yes, teacher included) laugh over it. In addition, I get roughly the same marks as him in dictation even though I'm much better. It's because whenever he doesn't remember or know a word, he'd ask the teacher how to write it and she'd tell him! What's the bloody point?! It's a dictation! Just because I refuse to cheat, I end up on the loosing end. I mean, I actually put in the work to memorise and all he does is ask the teacher. Nevermind that he didn't get his marks legitimately; he actually has the nerve to try comparing marks! This morning's lesson was no different and I'm unbearably vexed about it. I plan to record my teacher reading and practice imitating it so that she can no longer fail me without failing herelf, so to speak. That would be poetic justice wouldn't it?!!!
